Thought I'd add this thread so that members with an unlock coming up, can get some ideas on what to pick.
I’m going to kick us off with the L85A1 or the SA80.
This is the British Army's primary assault rifle. In game it is quite a difficult gun to master but it is very satisfying once you have. It has excellent long range accuracy when prone and on single shot. The scope does help you a great deal. Unlike other guns the scope is uncluttered (F2000!!!) this makes using it a lot easier.
At close range however it is slightly weaker. Its full auto is inaccurate when fired in long bursts even with the scope. I advise that you use single shot for all but the closest combat as at least you can make your bullets count - preferably in the head :D.
Up close try and lie down instantly and still use the scope as it gives you a good accuracy increase. Aim for the chest and let rip (providing you are close enough for accuracy not to matter).
Many criticise this gun however, this was my first unlock and I have used it as my primary weapon ever since. I think it is a very good gun and its accuracy in skilled hands more than compensates for its lack of power.

provide cover fire and kill people
bullets may not be awfully strong but theres so many
although you cannot move at all when in a fight especially up close as the COF is ridiculous
but as long as you drop quickly and aim for head you should be ok

And I agree that the L85A1 is a great gun. It's about good as the F2000 -- and the medic goodies are more useful than the GL IMO.

well i got 2 more to choose from..the sniper l96a1 or the antit tank machine gun.....the l96a1 is a great sniper. only ever used it by pickin up someones kit

The L96A1 is amazing. I use it all the time as my primary sniper and have great success with it. It is very accurate, has a nice scope and is highly powered.

All i can say is the PKM rules!!!!!!!!!!!! What power! And the mp7, for such a small gun is a barrol of laughs, too bad there is only two clips :(
But its size just makes me rofl! :rofl:
