Can you play single player on the demo or is it just multiplayer?

Enjoying the demo when it's not crashing and/or refusing to connect. ;D
@ Ramigojag: You need to go here -
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_29 - download the file, then drag it into the following location:
My Computer>C Drive (Local Disc)>WINDOWS>System 32
If you have any problems with it, post here. Just remember not to touch anything else in that sub-folder. =]
@ Recon: Demo is just Multiplayer with no Single Player, and no option to create Local Server, either. =(

@ Daz.
Actually, no, it's the system32 folder like I said. EA quite clearly state this:
| QUOTE |
Please be aware of the following: In an effort to reduce download times the Battlefield 2142 Demo does not contain a DirectX installer. Be advised that in order to play this demo players must have DirectX9 installed and should ensure that the d3dx9_29.dll is present in your C:\WINDOWS\system32. |
And if you click this link, you'll see a whole family of DX9 .dll extensions - Note the name of the folder in the top left?

Odds are if you opened up your own system32 folder you'd already have the DX9 file needed, and that one in your system file is redundant? For instance, I didn't have to do any post-installation file moving because I already had it there from other games. I only know about the fix because its so hotly discussed in forums.
